Regional people with disability often face extra barriers: limited services, greater access issues, and increased isolation. Our work in regional communities includes identifying barriers, amplifying regional voices, and pushing for change. Our advocacy focuses on making sure services and systems in regional South Australia are inclusive, responsive, and designed with people with disability from the start. We believe that everyone, no matter we live, deserves equal access, support, and opportunity.

Partnering with regional communities

Regional communities are a strategic priority

“Partnering with regional communities” is one of the key pillars of our 2024–2027 Strategic Plan. We know that people with disability living in regional South Australia often face additional challenges, including fewer local services, more complex access issues, and greater isolation. That’s why we are committed to working alongside regional communities to create meaningful change.

We deliver on this commitment through three main areas of work:

    • Project work: Our regional projects support people with disability in regional areas to build skills, share knowledge, and strengthen local networks. We also work with broader communities to increase understanding and inclusion.
    • Policy work: We make sure the voices of regional people with disability are heard by decision-makers. Our policy work helps shape government decisions that reflect the unique needs and strengths of regional communities. View our regional policy submissions.
    • Storytelling: We share stories and lived experience from regional South Australia to help build awareness, connection, and support for inclusion across the state.

Staying connected

Be heard, no matter where you live

To help make our work as accessible as possible, in addition to regionally-based events, we offer many of our events and activities online. This means regional voices can continue to be heard, no matter where people live.

Where we have events available to our regional communities, we’ll include them on this page. You can also head to the events page to view all our current events, and filter them by location and topic.
