SKILL SA is a capacity building project all about peer networks, learning self-advocacy skills and leadership development for people with disability and their supporters.

Peer network meetings are for people with disability, and their families, carers and supporters, who are interested in the steps and opportunities for taking charge in their lives.

Disability Peers of South Australia (DiPSA)

DiPSA (Disability Peers of South Australia) is a peer network run by and for people with physical and sensory disability in South Australia. Formerly known as DEAA (Disability Elders of All Ages), the network was established in 2016 and has members of all ages who live across the state. DiPSA host monthly peer network meetings, online and in-person, on the first Tuesday of the month, from 2pm to 4pm. These peer networks focus on improving self-advocacy skills, getting information from guest speakers, sharing resources and stories through peer connection.

To join or learn more about DiPSA, contact us at 0478 825 793 or email dipsa@purpleorange.org.au

LGBTQIASB+ Disability Peer Network coming soon

Welcome to LGBTIQASB+ folks with disability

This peer network is a place for SA-based LGBTIQASB+ folks aged 18+ years with disability to connect with peers, celebrate identity, build confidence and strengthen self-advocacy and leadership skills as a community. It was built on the values of respect, belonging and co-creation.

Created by and for the LGBTQIASB+ disability community and run by lived experience peers, we are committed to access as a shared responsibility.

Monthly meetings are hybrid (online and in-person) and meeting topics and content is member-driven. We recognise participation may look different for everyone. We acknowledge the intersection of queerness, disability, culture and other identities within our membership and celebrate the diverse wealth of lived experience in the room.

This is as much an opportunity to learn from one another as from external presenters. Our group focuses on collective care, not addressing individual concerns.

Members must be 18+ years of age.

SKILL Workshops

The original SKILL workshops were for people with disability, their family members and their supporters, who were interested in the steps and opportunities for taking charge in their lives. They were co-designed by people with disability for people with disability.

SKILL workshops provided a range of benefits – learning about the NDIS, receiving peer support, and meeting other people with a lived experience of disability.

Although the SKILL workshops are no longer running, people can complete the SKILL workshop topics at their own pace on the SKILL website.

The SKILL workshops covered topics including building your vision, making your plan, managing supports, safeguarding success, feeling at home, and connecting with community.
