Tessa Deak

Regional Lead

As a person with disability living in Mount Gambier, I’m deeply passionate about the work we do and proud to focus on the regional pillar at JFA Purple Orange. I work across two projects – SKILL SA and the Regional Employment Project (REP). Through SKILL SA, I support our regional peer networks, and in REP, I work with employers in and around Mount Gambier/Berrin to strengthen their inclusive practices and create more supportive workplaces.

Outside of work, I’m a creative at heart. I love painting, writing, and baking – especially choc-chip peanut butter cookies.

Project Officer, SKILL SA

Project Officer for SKILL SA, based in Barossa.

In my role, I support people to connect with opportunities, support, and each other. I also enjoy the behind-the-scenes work – like organising admin and setting up systems—because it helps everything run more smoothly for everyone.

What I love most is meeting people and building connections that make a real difference in all our lives.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me spending time with my two dogs, Clover Nugget Pterodactyl Rose and Bob, working on my garden, or exploring local art.

Liluella Walsh

Regional Connector, SKILL SA

Liluella is a Regional Connector for SKILL SA, based in Kangaroo Island.

My work with JFA Purple Orange is primarily through the SKILL project, where I co-facilitate peer network meetings on Kangaroo Island (KI) for people with disability, their families, supporters, and community advocates.

Our monthly peer meetings are a chance to share stories, build skills, hear from guest speakers, and stay connected with what’s happening in the community. We also host a monthly social catch-up, offering a relaxed and fun space for people with disability to connect and unwind.

The best part of my role is getting to know the disability community on Kangaroo Island and hearing people’s stories. I also love working within the broader community to advocate for greater access and inclusion.

Working with Purple Orange has been life-changing for me. It’s given me a renewed sense of purpose and passion, and continues to build my confidence and skills in peer support, leadership, and advocacy.

Outside of work, I’m passionate about growing and sharing food, and I love being part of the harvest exchange movement on KI. When I’m not in the garden, you’ll usually find me at the beach – walking and playing with my unofficial support dog, Tjutju, swimming in the rockpools, surfing, or fishing.

Noella Angel

Facilitator, Disability Inclusion Training

At JFA Purple Orange, I support people to better understand disability and how we can all work together to make schools, workplaces, and communities more inclusive. I enjoy creating spaces where people feel safe to ask questions, reflect, and grow.

My favourite part of the job is seeing those lightbulb moments—when people start to build their inclusive skills and positive change begins to take shape.

As an above-knee amputee with a rare vascular condition (AV Malformation) and ADHD, I bring my own lived experience to this work. I believe the most powerful learning happens when people hear directly from those who’ve lived it.

Outside of work, I’m an international para ice hockey player, horse rider, and I run Aussie stockwhip clinics. I’m always chasing the next adventure and love inspiring others along the way.
