Ready to take your vox pop idea and turn it into a powerful, shareable video?
JFA Purple Orange is delivering a series of digital skills workshops for people with disability, funded through the South Australian Government’s Digital Inclusion grants program.
In this free online workshop, you’ll learn the basics of filming and editing vox pops using your phone. We’ll show you how to get started using whatever equipment you already have — no fancy tools or filming and editing experience needed.
Whether you want to create a video with visuals, or just an audio vox pop, this workshop will walk you through the essentials step-by-step, in a friendly and inclusive environment.
This is Workshop 2 of our Series 2 ‘Creating Vox Pops’ workshops.
What we’ll cover:
- Tips for filming: framing, lighting, clear sound, and picking your environment
- Helpful gear: tripods, mics and other affordable add-ons (optional!)
- How to edit your vox pop using free or low-cost apps
- Trimming clips
- Arranging your video
- Adding captions, music, or text
- How to structure your video: intro → responses → outro
- What makes a good vox pop great — personality, clarity, and accessibility
- Watch a finished example and break it down together
By the end, you’ll be ready to start creating your own vox pop!
We’ll also share resources, equipment tips, and optional challenges to keep practising after the session.
You don’t need to have attended Workshop 1 — but it’s helpful!
