I got Inka in 2018, she was a spritely 18-month-old pup back then, fresh out of guide dog school.
We matched well because we both like to go at a quick pace when we walk! Life was busy with my PhD, working as a DE/therapy assistant, a mix of advisory work and casual teaching at Flinders University among other things.
Inka slotted in perfectly, quick step, and laser accurate when navigating crowds of people and new cities when we travelled interstate. She was equally fantastic at napping and snoring in classes or meetings. So having her by my side on the 16th of April when I graduated with the PhD felt extra special and important. She has been a constant.
Now that Inka is 8, she’s nearly ready to retire, slowing down in her older years and she’s keen to be a regular pup who can play, mooch around and do lots of napping.
