Our Port Lincoln Connecting in the Regions event was a strong success, with valuable connections made for both the SKILL SA project and our Disability Inclusion Training (DIT).
As part of SKILL SA, we shared plans for a new peer network for people with disability in Port Lincoln. There was strong interest in the network, with people expressing a desire to join and suggesting topics they’d like to explore. The event also marked the first official outing for our new SKILL SA Port Lincoln Connector, Alison Sabburg. During the event, several people expressed interest in applying for the second Connector role that is currently open.
For many local organisations and businesses, the event was their first introduction to DIT and the value it offers. The DIT project has been working closely with City of Port Lincoln Council on a number of training modules, with interest in exploring the new modules currently in development. Other local councils across the Eyre Peninsula also expressed interest in getting involved with DIT.
It was great to connect with so many local people who were curious about our work. We look forward to supporting the peer network in Port Lincoln, building new partnerships with councils and organisations, and working together toward a more inclusive future.
