Liluella is a Regional Connector for SKILL SA, based in Kangaroo Island.
My work with JFA Purple Orange is primarily through the SKILL project, where I co-facilitate peer network meetings on Kangaroo Island (KI) for people with disability, their families, supporters, and community advocates.
Our monthly peer meetings are a chance to share stories, build skills, hear from guest speakers, and stay connected with what’s happening in the community. We also host a monthly social catch-up, offering a relaxed and fun space for people with disability to connect and unwind.
The best part of my role is getting to know the disability community on Kangaroo Island and hearing people’s stories. I also love working within the broader community to advocate for greater access and inclusion.
Working with Purple Orange has been life-changing for me. It’s given me a renewed sense of purpose and passion, and continues to build my confidence and skills in peer support, leadership, and advocacy.
Outside of work, I’m passionate about growing and sharing food, and I love being part of the harvest exchange movement on KI. When I’m not in the garden, you’ll usually find me at the beach – walking and playing with my unofficial support dog, Tjutju, swimming in the rockpools, surfing, or fishing.
