Be part of the conversation

We are interested to hear your experiences, concerns and ideas about how to make our community more inclusive and accessible. It may be about transport, education, work, housing, speaking up, travel, politicians, the price of electricity, the latest in wheelchair design - you name it!

If there is something you think needs to happen or needs to happen differently, let us know. Your insights help to shape and strengthen our work.

Be part of the solution

Ensure your organisation's systems, practices and policies are supportive of and accessible to people living with disability.

We know the issues are complex and it can be hard to do it alone. We have a wealth of experience and knowledge that can help you get there.

We work with government, NGOs, agencies, educational institutions and other businesses by conducting tailored consultations, evaluations and/or training. We are also available to commission for research.

Support our work

We've done a lot of work to make our communities more inclusive, accessible and
welcoming. Unfortunately there's a lot more work to do before we get there. This takes time, resources and money.

If you would like to donate or are interested in leaving a bequest, please get in touch. Any amount, large or small, will help us continue our mission to create a world where people who live with disability get a fair go at what life has to offer.

Volunteering at Purple Orange

The main volunteer roles available are for people living with disability to help organise peer networks, or to join committees that make decisions about our work.

If you live with disability and would like to be involved as a volunteer with our peer networks, or if you would like to be apply for a role on a committee, please send us an email to admin@purpleorange.org.au telling us about yourself, why you’d like to be involved, and how we can get in touch with you.

We cannot guarantee we will have a role for you because it depends on what we need at the time, and what skills and experience we are looking for.

From time to time we can offer voluntary placements for students as part of their course of study. If you are a student looking for a placement, talk to your study supervisor, who can then approach us.

Join our database

At Purple Orange, we do our best to give a voice to people living with disability and their family members. We do this in a lot of different ways.

For example:

  1. When we run projects, we work with a group of people living with disability to provide advice (this is called a ‘co-design group’)
  2. When we do research, we ask people living with disability what they think (either individually or as part of a ‘focus group’)
  3. When we develop videos and podcasts, we share the stories of people living with disability
  4. When we organise events, we often ask people living with disability to speak or help us to facilitate.

We have a database of people who would like to be contacted by Purple Orange when there is an opportunity to get involved in our work.

We will try to give everyone the opportunity to help with our work at some stage, but this will depend on our needs and how many people join the database. We will not share your contact details with anyone outside Purple Orange.
