Help us re-name the Purple Orange Podcast

We’re refreshing the Purple Orange Podcast for 2027 and we’d love your help finding a new name – one that better reflects the depth and impact of these incredible stories.

What makes a great name?

Our podcast shares stories and conversations that challenge assumptions, build understanding, and encourages us all to think differently about disability and inclusion. So we’re looking for a name that:

Sparks curiosity
Appeals to people both inside and outside the disability community
Works for storytelling and conversation-style episodes
Is memorable, unique, and easy to understand

Ask yourself: “If I saw this in Spotify or Apple Podcasts, would I click on it?“
You can submit as many ideas as you’d like, but please enter one name per submission.

Competition Terms and Conditions

Promoter

The competition is conducted by JFA Purple Orange, the trading name of the Julia Farr Association.

Competition period

Entries open on Tuesday 13 October 2026 and close at 5.00pm ACDT on Thursday 31 December 2026.

Eligibility

Entry is open to Australian residents 18+.
Employees of Julia Farr Association and their immediate family members may submit ideas but are not eligible to win the prize.

How to enter

Submit a proposed new name for the Purple Orange Podcast via the online entry form.
One name per entry.
Multiple entries are permitted.

Judging

This is a game of skill.
Entries will be judged by a panel appointed by JFA Purple Orange.
Judging will consider how well the proposed name:
- Appeals to the podcast’s target audiences
- Creates curiosity and interest
- Reflects the purpose of the podcast
- Is distinctive and memorable
- Is suitable for use as a podcast title
Chance plays no part in determining the winner.
Judging and determining the winning name may take some time, and further consultation and refinement may be required. We will endeavour to select the winning entry within 60 days of the competition closing date.
JFA Purple Orange reserves the right to terminate the competition without selecting a winner if an appropriate name is not found.

Prize

One winner will receive a $250 gift voucher to the outlet of our choice.
The winning entry does not need to be adopted as the final podcast name for a prize to be awarded.
The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Notification of winner

The winner will be contacted using the details provided on the entry form within 14 days of judging being completed.

Publicity, intellectual property and privacy

By entering the competition, entrants agree that:

Any podcast name submitted may be used, adapted, modified, combined with other ideas, or further developed by JFA Purple Orange.
Entrants will not receive any additional payment, compensation or royalties if their submission influences or becomes part of the final podcast name.
JFA Purple Orange may use the entrant’s first name, suburb/town, submitted podcast name, and any comments provided about the entry for promotional, marketing and publicity purposes related to the competition and the Purple Orange Podcast.
If selected as the winner, the entrant may be invited to participate in promotional activities, including website, social media, newsletter and media content.
Participation in publicity activities is voluntary. An entrant who does not wish to participate in publicity will still remain eligible to win the prize.
Personal information collected through the competition will only be used to administer the competition, contact entrants about the outcome, and support promotional activities related to the competition, unless the entrant has separately agreed to receive other communications from JFA Purple Orange.

JFA Purple Orange will take reasonable steps to protect personal information and handle it in accordance with applicable privacy obligations.
