Parenting as Equals supports parents and caregivers with disability to build confidence, connect with others and access parenting and community services.

Through a series of peer-led workshops, participants can share experiences, learn about available services and develop skills to advocate for themselves and their families.

Who it’s for

Parents and caregivers with disability in northern Adelaide.

What this project does

  • Builds understanding of available parenting and community services
  • Supports parents and caregivers to navigate barriers when accessing services
  • Strengthens confidence and self-advocacy skills
  • Creates opportunities to connect with others and share experiences

Why this matters

Parents and caregivers with disability can face barriers when accessing parenting and community services.

Parenting as Equals aims to break down these barriers by building knowledge, confidence and connections, helping more parents and caregivers access the services they need and participate in their communities.

A family - dad, mum, a boy and a girl - are talking and playing together.

What's happening

The project begins with people with disability co-designing a workshop series to ensure it is relevant, accessible and reflects their experiences.

The peer-led workshop series will then be delivered four times across northern Adelaide in 2027.
